  5. This is vol. 3, issue 2 of the 1992 NeXT NUGGET NEWS DIGEST - a
  6. collection of items of interest for the NeXT User Group members.
  7. There are more than 320 NeXT User Groups in 34 countries around the
  8. world.  This issue is devoted to "Objects". 
  9.  
  10. If you wish to start a new NeXT user group locally or if you have a
  11. NeXT User Group but have not registered it, please send email to

  33. Framingham, Mass - In cooperation with the Object Management
  34. Group, Computerworld announced it will sponsor the First Annual
  35. Computerworld Object Application Awards in conjunction with
  36. Object World 92.  The 40 minute ceremony will be held on
  37. Tuesday evening, July 21, 1992 at the Sheraton Palace Hotel
  38. in San Francisco.   Awards will be given out in five categories
  39. specifically to honor User applications and pioneering 
  40. implementations of the technology.  A distinguished panel of
  41. judges will determine the winners through a nomination process 
  42. in the following categories:

  45.  - Best implementation of a distributed application using
  46.       object-oriented tools
  47.  - Best implementation of a reusable development environment 
  48.       for company deployment
  49.  - Best "object-based" application developed using NON
  50.       object-oriented tools
  51.  - Best cost-saving implementation using an object approach
  52.  - Best use of object technology within an enterprise or large
  53.       systems environment
  54.  
  55. Nominations must come from the User organization for internally
  56. developed applications not for commercial sale.  Production
  57. applications or documented and demonstrable working
  58. prototypes are acceptable.  Entrants must call for an official
  59. Entry Kit.  All entries must be received by midnight EST, May 29,
  60. 1992.  Entrants will be asked to detail goals of the application,
  61. the approach used, problems encountered, and key benefits realized
  62. conforming to one of the above categories.  For your entry kit,

  77. II.  Object Catalog: Call for Submissions

  79. Dear NeXTSTEP Object Designers:
  80.  
  81.         In July of this year, NeXT will publish the first-ever
  82. "object" catalog.  The catalog will promote all the fantastic
  83. NeXTSTEP objects currently available, both commercially and through
  84. the public domain.  At the same time, the catalog will help educate
  85. customers and the entire industry about the benefits of NeXTSTEP
  86. objects and object-oriented technology.
  87.  
  88. NeXT is clearly the object-oriented leader: NeXTSTEP is the only
  89. object-oriented system software shipping today. To get the word out,
  90. we'd like to release an outstanding catalog filled with descriptions
  91. of the objects written by developers and users alike.

  93. That's where we'd like your help.

  95.         You can leave an indelible mark on the NeXTSTEP object
  96. community by submitting descriptions of your objects for listing in
  97. our catalog.  It's simple.  Just complete the attached form and
